You can contribute by establishing a
SchoolNet Guyana chapter in your community to promote
this program and assist with fundraising and equipment.
Global Literacy
wishes to establish SchoolNet Chapters across the
Guyanese Diaspora overseas and in Guyana to:
- involve Guyanese organizations and communities
- promote the SchoolNet Guyana program, and
- mobilize equipment
Objectives
Each Chapter will have the following aims and objectives:
- Mobilize equipment and materials for SchoolNet Guyana.
- Mobilize organizations and individuals to support the
SchoolNet Guyana Project.
- Mobilize technical expertise.
- Assist in Fundraising.
- Assist Global Literacy in promoting SchoolNet Guyana.
Organizational Structure
Each SchoolNet Chapter should be formally set up with a coordinating body which includes a chair and vice-chair. In addition, each chapter should have the following committees: finance, mobilization, marketing, infrastructure, training, grants, and partnership.
Additional guidance can be sought from the chair of Global Literacy on setting up and administering the Chapter.
Responsibilities of the chapters
In an effort to provide the highest level of accountability and transparency, each Chapter would:
- Seek guidance from Global Literacy in setting up the organization
- Keep Global Literacy apprised of fund-raising and other mobilization activities.
- Transfer all funding and equipment to the SchoolNet program of Global Literacy in a timely manner.
- Provide monthly reports to Global Literacy.
- Keep written minutes of all of meetings.
- Appoint a representative to each of the working committees of Global Literacy.
- Participate regularly and actively in committee meetings and activities.
